A highly anticipated match throughout the UK with stories covering sports pages and inserts about Orient's week of preparations for their 2nd FA Cup outing to a Premiership Club, the first 3 weeks ago when they beat Fulham.
The atomosphere today was great, the fans wouldn't stop singing in the home ends. Curbs had shouted out through the website and programme today for us to get behind the lads, and we certainly responded.
As Marcus Bent was cup tied, Curbs went back to 4-4-2 with Bartlett back. An easy match we thought it would be, especially when the man who sent the Palace down, Jonothan Fortune, decided to head the ball into Orient's net 7 minutes into the game. A great start which enthralled the fans even more!
But we seemed to go to sleep and despite many attempts, the match was boring! The only thing keeping me awake was the constant chants of "Red Army" and "CAFC".
Into the second half and 8 minutes in, we let it slip with an Orient player finding space at the edge of our box to slot home. Unfortunately, Myhre's touch was not enough to stop the shot from finishing in the back of our net.
That was it, either Orient would win or it would go to a replay, they were all over us! Curbs did a triple sub with about 30 mins left, bringing on Smertin for Kishishev, Thomas for Hughes and Bothroyd for Bartlett. This raised the fans spirits and the atmosphere raised again. It was unreal the passion us fans showed today!
Our frustration finally paid off when we were awarded a free kick outside the area in the first minute of the three added on. Perfect Bothroyd free kick range! And what does he do? Rifles it into the back of the net via a slight deflection from the keeper. We had won it! The crowd went wild, J block mental! Songs of que cera and us cheering the Orient off the pitch rung around SE7. We had done it. A great match, bring on the 5th Round.
