Bolanos no more

So Immagrants and Asylum seekers get in all the time, but a young lad going by the name of Christian Bolanos has been rejected a work permit by the Home Office meaning that we have lost a prospect on a loan deal and would have to wait until this time next year for any chance of signing him. For the deal to fall through at this time is really frustrating as Bolanos made The Valley gasp at his attacking style of skilful play, when he was on trial, during the pre-season friendly against New Zeleand. This made many people want him to become a permanent fixture in SE7 and this looked likely when Dowie signed him on a years loan with an option to sign. Now we might miss out on him all together. We are only allowed to apply once a year, so who knows, in a years time if he continues to impress, the Man Utds and Chelseas of this world may be sniffing around.

In other news, Charlton have boosted their squad ahead of the August transfer deadline with the recruitment of yet another international in the shape of Senegal star Souleymane Diawara from Sochaux for €5.5 million.

Diawara set for Charlton

According to Skysports.com, Charlton are on the verge of signing of Senegal defender Souleymane Diawara.

Ian Dowie is keen on strengthening the squad after a less than impressive first few matches and sees the signing of a new defender as the perfect opportunity to sort out the number of goals we concede. Diawara has been long linked with a move to England and Charlton were carefully watching developments at Sochaux ready to pounce on the chance to lure him to the Valley, and it worked.

Both clubs have agreed a fee for the towering defender and a three year contract deal has already been negotiated by the club, having already passed his medical it is only a matter of completing the necessary formalities before Diawara becomes the latest addition to The Addicks.

This move is, personally, a welcome one in my eyes and is certainly a step in the right direction to securing a top 10 position.

Match Report: Charlton 2 - 0 Bolton

Yes we have finally beaten Bolton!

Hello folks, I have been busy with work and holidays recently so this is the first post about the mighty Addicks this season. The fans were ready and raring to go, the drums rolling, the teams taking the pitch and everyone wanted to get Wednesday's defeat against Man Utd out of their heads. But it didn't look like it was going to be our day, especially when Herman got sent off and we had a clear goal disallowed. Further to this in the 2nd half Bolton were rewarded a Penalty. But good old Scotty Carson saved it! This was the turning point, we brought the game to the Trotters and were ourselves rewarded with a Penalty. None other than Darren Bent was there to slot it home. Yes Yes Yes. Justice was served when the player who was a massive part in Herman's sending off got the same treatment himself! Wicked! Then Darren went up and scored again and secured the victory.
When Dowie left the pitch, he was clearly over the moon punching the sky with delight and sheer relief. So were many of the fans!

Little bit of a delay in breaking the news to Talk CAFC regulars, but we have finally signed Christian Bolanos on a year long loan with the option to sign. WICKED!

Traore and Faye sign on

Charlton's next two signings Djimi Traore and Amdy Faye have now entered the Valley, signing from Liverpool and Newcastle respectively at a price of £2million each, these are two players that the gaffer surely believes are going to take us in to Europe. Very exciting times at the moment, NOW SIGN PONY TAIL BOLANOS!

Pre Season Blues: Charlton 1 -1 New Zealand

A very dissapointing match in my opinion. Not only were many fans annoyed entering the stadium due to ticketing problems outside the ground, but many were also annoyed leaving. We had a great first half, we were all over the NZ team and trialist Bolanos - who was amazing and the best player on the pitch (sign him!) - set up Marcus Bent for a great first goal. It seems that we are now going to play music after each goal as the same tune they play at Norwich blared out the stadium after the ball was put in the net!

Unfortunately we were a different team in the second half, some shocking defending meant NZ got a goal back and thats how the game stayed. Darren Bent made his comeback after his sandwich incident which was good to see. But all in all, we are going to struggle this season if we keep playing like this.

You gotta laugh: Welling 1 - 0 Charlton

Despite excuses of us having a team of trialists and youth (with the addition of Marcus Bent, Jonothan Fortune, Simon Walton and Jason Euell) we really shouldn't lose to Nationwide Conference South neighbours Welling in a friendly! The reason for the loss - a Simon Walton own goal! Oh well, lets just wait until Saturday and beat New Zealand! (I hope!)
